What to expect when you worship with us.
We want you to be comfortable when you visit!
We offer 2 styles of Worship service:
Traditional Service at 8:30 am: This service follows a traditional order of worship and contains elements such as a responsive call to worship, traditional hymns, and a sung doxology. The children come forward for a children’s message and a choir anthem or special music is part of worship. Offering trays are passed, as is Communion.
Contemporary Service at 10:30 am: This is more of an informal service that is casual in dress and tone. This “come as you are” service is relaxed and uplifting. The music is contemporary music and features a praise band and choir. A special children’s message is also included in this service. Participants come forward to give their offering and receive communion by dipping the bread in the cup.
Fellowship Coffee: Coffee and refreshments are served between the services at 9:30 am. Everyone is encouraged to share in fellowship with one another.
How should I dress?
Ankeny Christian Church is a “come as you are” church. Jeans or ties
are equally welcomed.
What style of music is offered?
The style of music is an energetic and lively blend of praise choruses,
traditional hymns. A wonderful choir and special song selections by invited guests and church members bring God’s message through music. A song leader helps us get into the music.
What style of preaching is presented?
Pastor David Clark provides upbeat messages that are not only inspirational but relevant to everyday life. He doesn’t lecture or preach down to us from a pedestal, but from real life experiences. Messages touch the heart and give you something to think about all week. Messages are lively and have a sense of humor. No one has to feel as if they are on trial or judged. We are a church of grace.
How often do you have communion?
Communion is celebrated every week. You do not need to be a church member to receive God’s gift of the Lord’s Supper. Everyone (including children) is welcome to the table of forgiveness and love.
Is a nursery available?
Yes. A well-staffed, bright and beautiful nursery is available for children
during worship.
Are Children Welcome?
Yes. A special children’s moment is featured in every worship service. We have activity bags at the entrance of the building for children ages 3 and up.
Ankeny Christian Church is accessible for those with physical needs.
